Heike Lerch
Technical research assistant

Heike graduated from Medical Technical studies at Medical Academy in Dresden  and has worked as a technical assistant at Charité Berlin since 1994. She worked in Charité’s Virology and Experimental Neurology departments before joining the Yildirim lab in November 2014 as technical research assistant. Heike uses wide range of research techniques from cell culture to molecular biology on a routine basis. She can be reached at heike.lerch@charite.de and on +49 30 450 539 195.

Foteini (Fenia) Paraskevopoulou
Associate PhD Student
Christian Rosenmund Lab
(Institute of Neurophysiology)

Foteini (Fenia) has a BSc in Biology, with emphasis on Physiology and a MSc in in Neurosciences from Georg-August-University of Göttingen in 2015. She is currently a Neurocure fellow and PhD student at Medical Neurosciences program at Charité Berlin. Her project centers on investigation of fundamental processes that govern GABAergic synapse formation and function in basal and diseased conditions and uses RNA sequencing methods as well as electrophysiology. Fenia can be reached at foteini.paraskevopoulou@charite.de

Ashraf Abdo
MSc Student
Medical Neurosciences Program

Ashraf pursued his BSc studies in Pharmacy and Biotechnology at the German University in Cairo (GUC), from where he graduated in 2013. Afterwards, he moved to New York City where he did an internship at Rockefeller University and worked in a developmental Neurobiology Lab. In 2015, Ashraf moved to Berlin to join the Medical Neurosciences program at Charité Berlin. He is currently working on his MSc project which centers on testing epigenetic therapies in in-vitro and in-vivo disease models. He can be reached at ashraf.abdo@charite.de.

Alek Hanefi
MSc Student
Medical Neurosciences Program

Alek graduated from Molecular Biology BSc program at the Belgrade University. He did his first year of MSc studies in Neuroscience at University of Bordeaux and he is currently at Charité Berlin for the second year of his MSc studies. He joined the Yildirim lab for his MSc project which focuses on transcriptional dysregulation in Huntington's disease and uses primary neuronal culture models and molecular biology techniques. He can be reached at alekhm91@gmail.com.
